Jane E. Cowley,
associate attorney, has a diverse practice, with a
primary focus on
business,
real
estate transactions,
litigation
matters, and
mediation. She also has
extensive experience with
family
law matters. Jane
earned her J.D.(2002) and Masters of Social Work
(2001) from the University of Connecticut, where she
participated in a dual degree program. She earned a
Bachelors of Arts from Puget Sound University in
1994, and provided social services in Portland,
Oregon for four years before entering graduate
school. This combined academic background helps her
understand the legal and human impact each case has
on her clients.
Jane joined the firm in July of 2005. Prior to
practicing with Worden Thane P.C., she worked in the
Missoula office of Montana Legal Services
Association. Her work there involved domestic
violence and child abuse cases, and included the
supervision and support of bachelor and master level
social work students.
Jane is a member of the Montana Bar Association,
Western Montana Bar Association, and American Bar
Association. She is admitted to practice law in
Montana State and Federal Courts. She also serves as
board president for the Missoula Court Appointed
Special Advocate program and is affiliated with the
Montana Chapter of the National Association of
Social Workers.
Jane comes from Idaho's silver valley, and has five
siblings. Her father retired from the army as a
Lieutenant Colonel, and later worked with the
Sunshine Mine. She and her husband stay active in
Missoula sports, and are kept busy by their young
daughter. Her husband is an avid hockey player while
she plays soccer; they both teach at the Lookout
Pass Free Ski School Program.
